This is one of my favourite songs in Irish ever – or in any other language, come to that. I first heard it in Dungarvan about 10 years ago. The singer, solo and singing without any accompaniment, was a surprisingly young (late teens – early twenties) lady from Connemara. That they are being learned and sung by a new and vigorous generation is one of the remarkable things about Ireland’s tradition of singing the grand old songs in Irish: solo and unaccompanied was the traditional way, Now those old songs being taken up by young people – such as the members of the all female group, ‘Líadan’ (www.liadan.ie These younger, almost ‘new wave’ exponents of some of Ireland’s most loved songs, moving away from the old ’sean nós’ (old style) tradition of solo unaccompanied singing are bringing them to a new audience, to young and to old, to Irish people and to our newly acquired friends overseas. The songs they sing, of course, in the way of folk songs the world over, deal with life, with love, with death. Empiezo a subir este mini dorama de sólo 5 capítulos, que es más conocido por el título de Freeze, pero ya saben que es mejor cambiarle el nombre, por si acaso, jeje… Os cuento un poco de qué va. Es una historia sobre vampiros. Se remonta hace 350 años, cuando Baek Jung Won salva a una vampiresa llamada Iwha de una quema en su pueblo y al tratar de huír, cae de un monte, y se salva gracias a la sangre de Iwha, convirtiéndose así en vampiro. En la época actual ambos regentan un restaurante de vinos, tapadera para traficar con sangre. Es entonces cuando Baek Jung Won recibe una carta de una mujer a la que amó hacía 20 años, que se está muriendo y le pide que cuide de su hija, Jang Yi Jun. Ella encuentra una foto de su madre con él, y se va a buscarlo a Seúl, creyendo que es el hijo del hombre que amó su madre. Se va a vivir a su casa y poco a poco se van enamorando, pero Iwha siente muchos celos de su relación. Mientras en la ciudad de Seúl han comenzado asesinatos, donde a las víctimas se les ha chupado toda la sangre… Los protagonistas son Lee Seo Jin (el prota de Amantes) y Park Han Byul (sale en Fantasy Couple).
